The gentle slopes of Pella have abundant sun and breezes throughout the year. Our vines derive their strength from the clay, naturally limed and arid soils that keep them refreshed and at ease in their natural environment. There, a living microcosm develops, producing the natural nutrients that the vine seeks for its harmonious development.
This natural way of cultivation, which goes beyond organic, brings to the grape the characteristics of its origin, defined by the terroir.
Our interventions guide the vine development, but do not impose on it and aim at safeguarding the health of the grapes, the right degree of maturity and the ideal balance of quality and quantity. Treatments are rarely needed because our preventive interventions, which always follow the rules of organic farming, are sufficient.
The white varieties we cultivate are Roditis, Assyrtiko, and Kidonitsa, while our reds are made from Xinomavro and Limniona. Harvesting is done manually from mid-August to late September.
The modern equipment in our winery ensures the conditions for proper processing of our grapes and controlled fermentation to allow the winemaker, with his knowledge and art, to bring out the virtues of the grape.
Our wines are processed to stabilize and enhance the character of their aroma and flavor with as little technical intervention as possible. Reds are aged in oak barrels first and then in bottles in the cellar.
The blends of different varieties are made with the purpose of harmoniously accompanying exquisite culinary creations.
The quality that characterizes our wines is the result of the combination of the Pella terroir and the expertise of Ligas Estate, making our wines ideal for accompanying hours of joy.
