Oenolpi Winery

The company was founded in 2000 by the oenologists Timotheos G. Christoforos and Christina Maria Leftaki, his wife, as a continuation of the family tradition of producing wine from its own vineyards since 1965.

We, the younger generation, with the help and valuable experience of our father, viticulturist Giorgos Christoforos, and our mother, the biologist Katherine Lygeria- Christoforou, have undertaken a gradual revival of several lost varieties of the Zakynthos vineyards.

The winery sits among 17 hectares, in the village of Mahairado. The area where the winery is located is known as Agria and is situated in the lowlands of Zakynthos.

At Oenolpi Winery, we cultivate the indigenous varieties Skiadopoulo, Goustolidi Koutsoubeli , and the excellent Avgoustiatis. The cultivation of the vineyards is complemented by the cultivation of black Zakynthian raisins.

Christina Maria Leftaki, laboratory manager for the winery, along with Timotheos G. Christoforos, in charge of production, strive to work with the region’s microclimate, soil, and vines to obtain quality wines.

Our starting point is always the unique qualities of the local varieties, which we aim to bring out in our wines. We produce wines that match Zakynthos’ gastronomy and style, while our aim is not to assimilate our wines to others, but to stand out.
