Poultsidis Winery

Christos Poultsidis is an agriculture graduate, specializing in plant protection and edaphology. Initially he worked as an edaphologist, performing soil analysis throughout Greece. This is how his interest in Greek viticulture began, and how he started to build his knowledge of Greek and foreign vine varieties.

In 1998, after detailed and exhaustive research, he cultivated his first vineyard in Nees Karyes, Larissa, on half a hectare with 22 different Greek and foreign varieties for the production of white and red wine. The purpose of the project was to assess how the different varieties adapted to the microclimate in the area.

In 2006, after systematic recording and analysis of the quality characteristics of each variety, he created a 2.6 hectare vineyard with selected Greek and foreign varieties for the production of white and red wine.

Today the winery has 3 hectares of vineyards and cooperates with local producers cultivating an additional 5 hectares.

Since 2006, the vineyards have been under organic management (BIO HELLAS certification).

In 2015, a modern winery with excellent facilities for visitors was completed on the property. The result of many years of experience and diligent research is a quality wine, organically managed, with the characteristic name Caryos Gaea, Ancient Greek for ‘Clean Land’.
