Domaine Kikones is proudly the first winery founded in 2004 in Rhodope, Thrace, in the far north-eastern corner of continental Greece by Melina Tassou, Agricultural Engineer – Bordeaux trained Winemaker( D.N.O. Bordeaux).
The philosophy is based on the best techniques in grape growing and winemaking. Respecting wine as a natural product, the winemaker applies the minimum technological interference in order to preserve the true character of each wine according to its vintage, while the most important decisions are made by tasting the wines every day, even during fermentation.
The organic vineyard culture is inspired by the Australian trellising system, the scientific methods of quality control come directly from the University of Bordeaux and the traditional winemaking techniques from Burgundy. Combining all these techniques, Domaine Kikones has created the unique new Thracian method of winemaking.
